Hetauda, Jan 30: The 16th Bijulimaya Bana Shrestha International Music Award 2081 was given to veteran artist and lyricist Nir Shah.

The Bhim Birag Sangit Sahitya Kala Pratisthan Nepal, Hetauda, honored Shah at a special event.

Along with the award, he received Rs. 100,000 for his outstanding contribution to Nepali music.

Shah has been involved in modern songs and the film industry for the past 50 years.

Entrepreneur Kanhaiya Krishna Shrestha established this award in 2008 in memory of his mother, Bijulimaya Bana Shrestha.

At the event, Shah said he never wrote songs to be recognized as a lyricist.

In the past, this award has been given to artists like Ambar Gurung, Prem Dhoj Pradhan, Bhakta Raj Acharya, Phatteman Rajbhandari, Shanti Thatal, Deep Shrestha, Prakash Shrestha, Nhuchhe Bahadur Dangol, Mira Rana, Karma Yonjan, Chetan Karki, Dawa Gyalmo, Deepak Jangam, Kiran Pradhan, and Rajendra Thapa.

Writer Nagendra Thapa and award founder Kanhaiya Krishna Shrestha presented the award to Shah.
