Novak Djokovic is one step away from another Miami Open title after a commanding win over Grigor Dimitrov. With soccer legend Lionel Messi watching from the stands, Djokovic eased past the 14th-seeded Bulgarian 6-2, 6-3 on Friday at Hard Rock Stadium.

Now, the Serbian great will face 19-year-old Jakub Mensik in Sunday’s final. The unseeded Czech player pulled off a thrilling win over No. 3 seed Taylor Fritz, edging him out 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 7-6 (7-4).

A victory on Sunday would give Djokovic his seventh Miami Open trophy and mark his 100th career title.

Messi’s Surprise Visit Delights Djokovic

Messi, who plays for Inter Miami, made a special appearance at the match and even visited Djokovic in the locker room with his family. The tennis star was thrilled to have the Argentine legend watching him live for the first time.

“It’s a huge honor,” Djokovic said. “He’s not just a football player; he’s one of the greatest athletes ever. Having him and his family there brought me great joy.”

Dimitrov Battles, But Djokovic Too Strong

Dimitrov started strong, breaking Djokovic in the first game, but the Serbian quickly took control. In just 32 minutes, he wrapped up the first set and never looked back.

Djokovic’s serving was nearly flawless, landing 87% of his first serves and committing just five unforced errors in the 70-minute match.

Dimitrov, who had suffered from dizziness after his quarterfinal win, admitted he didn’t remember much from that match but still gave credit to Djokovic.

“He wears confidence like a stain on your shirt,” Dimitrov said. “Only a few athletes have that quality.”

Mensik’s Dream Run Continues

Jakub Mensik, ranked 54th, continued his incredible run with a hard-fought win over Fritz. The young Czech kept his composure in the final-set tiebreaker, winning the last three points to secure his first-ever ATP Masters 1,000 final.

Before the match, Mensik got to meet Messi. “I didn’t wash my hands before stepping on the court,” he joked.

Now, he faces his idol Djokovic in the final. The two met last year in Shanghai, where Djokovic won in three sets.

“It’s unbelievable to play him again,” Mensik said. “I’m a better player now, and I’m ready for the challenge.”

A Battle of Generations

Djokovic, 37, will have an 18-year age advantage over Mensik in the final. But will experience or youthful energy prevail? Tennis fans are in for an exciting showdown on Sunday.
