Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli stated that the government is working to control corruption. He made this statement during the inauguration of the First National Conference of Young Legal Professionals, which began in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
He emphasized the need to control corruption and said that as long as he is aware of it, he will prevent corruption and take action against it. He also clarified that controlling corruption is not a stunt. He expressed objection to the misleading rumors that his wife, Radhika Shakya, has 41 million dollars in a Swiss bank account.
“Corruption must be controlled. The current government, which I lead, is committed to not engaging in corruption and not allowing others to do so, as long as I know and understand. If I find out where it is happening, I will address it. A mouse does not make holes without anyone noticing. Therefore, as long as I know, I will not allow corruption. If it happens, I will control it. This is not a stunt,” he said.
He continued, “Just this morning, I opened Facebook and saw someone saying in Hindi that the Prime Minister of Nepal, KP Sharma Oli, has 41 million dollars in a Swiss bank account under the name of his wife, Radhika Shakya. When I heard this, I should have gotten angry, but now I don’t even get angry. It’s amusing. People who make such statements must not be of the same kind as those on Earth.”
Prime Minister Oli reiterated his commitment to work with loyalty and integrity towards the country and its people.
