Only Two Kilometers Blacktopped in Two Fiscal Years

The Satighat-Dingla road, which used to be muddy in the rainy season and dusty in the winter, has now been paved, making travel easier for the people in the northern part of the district. A two-kilometer section of the road, which often caused problems for locals, was recently paved under the budget of the Koshi Province government through the Infrastructure Development Office. The project was completed in two phases, with 800 meters paved last year and an additional 1,200 meters finished this year at a cost of NPR 22 million.

Despite being an important road for the northern region, only a small budget is allocated each year, making it difficult to complete the project quickly. Rajan Raj Reddy, head of the Infrastructure Development Office in Bhojpur, stated that this road should be included in a multi-year project with proper budget allocation. The total length of the road is 12 kilometers, and currently, only a small portion has been paved. However, officials ensured that the completed section was built to standard, using pre-mix technology and tested materials.

The road construction started in Chaitra 2080 and was completed within 11 months, according to Navin Yadav, a representative of the construction company. Local residents are happy that the paved road has made transportation easier, reducing the difficulties they faced for years. However, they still face a major issue due to the lack of a concrete bridge at Satighat, which connects Bhojpur and Sankhuwasabha.

Ward Chairperson of Shadanand-6, Suman Bisunke, also highlighted that while the new road has provided some relief, the absence of a proper bridge over the Arun River remains a challenge. Local resident Navin Karki emphasized that if the government builds a concrete bridge in Satighat, it will further improve transportation and benefit the entire region. Residents are now hoping that the government will prioritize the construction of the bridge to address this remaining issue.
