Oppo has taken the lead in the race for the slimmest foldable phone with the launch of the Oppo Find N5. As the successor to the Find N3, it improves on design, durability, and performance.
When unfolded, the Find N5 measures just 4.21mm, making it nearly as thin as a USB-C port. When folded, it is 8.93mm thick, setting a new record for book-style foldable phones. For comparison:
- Honor Magic V3 – 4.35mm unfolded, 9.3mm folded
- Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 – 5.6mm unfolded, 12.1mm folded
Innovative Hinge and Lightweight Build
Oppo achieved this slim design using a Titanium Flexion Hinge, which is 26% smaller than the one in the Find N3 but offers better durability. The phone also features:
- 3D-printed titanium wing panel
- Carbon fiber materials
- 229g weight (lighter than most foldable phones)
Water Resistance and Display Improvements
The Find N5 is the first foldable phone with an IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9 rating, meaning it can withstand pressurized hot water jets and submersion. Its frame is built from 7000-series aluminum for added strength.
The 8.12-inch LTPO OLED main screen features:
- FHD+ resolution
- 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate
- 2,100 nits peak brightness
- 9.9:9 aspect ratio
The 6.62-inch outer screen includes:
- FHD+ resolution
- 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate
- 2,450 nits peak brightness
- 20.7:9 aspect ratio
Both screens support the Oppo Pen stylus (sold separately).
Powerful Cameras with Hasselblad Partnership
Oppo has teamed up with Hasselblad to enhance camera performance. The Find N5 includes:
- 50MP main camera (LYT-700 sensor, 21mm focal length, OIS)
- 50MP periscope lens (Samsung JN5, 3x optical zoom, 70mm equivalent)
- 8MP ultrawide camera (15mm, autofocus)
Performance, Software, and Battery
The Find N5 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite, a binned version with one fewer performance core. It comes with:
- 16GB RAM
- 512GB storage (only variant for international markets)
It runs on ColorOS 15 (Android 15), with:
- 4 years of Android updates
- 6 years of security updates
Battery and charging features include:
- 5,600mAh silicon-carbon battery
- 80W SuperVOOC wired charging
- 50W AirVOOC wireless charging
Price, Availability, and Colors
The Oppo Find N5 will be available from February 28 in three colors:
- Cosmic Black
- Misty White
- Dusk Purple (China-exclusive)
The phone is priced at SGD 2,499 (~€1,799 or £1,499). Pre-orders begin tomorrow.
