The highly anticipated romance series Our Unwritten Seoul, formerly known as UNknown SEOUL, is set to debut next month. To build excitement ahead of its release, the production team dropped a teaser on April 25, offering a glimpse into the lives of the twin sisters Yoo Mi Ji and Yoo Mi Rae, both portrayed by Park Bo Young. The teaser sheds light on their evolving relationship dynamics as they grow older and reveals the reasons behind their decision to swap identities.
This coming-of-age drama, starring Park Bo Young and GOT7’s Park Jinyoung, revolves around the lives of twin sisters with starkly contrasting personalities: Yoo Mi Ji and Yoo Mi Rae. In the teaser, we see Yoo Mi Rae, the older of the two, leading a life that others perceive as ideal. She has always been the perfect daughter—an academic achiever with a high-paying job at a prestigious company. However, beneath this outward perfection, Yoo Mi Rae is struggling with personal challenges. Her work life, along with other hidden issues, causes her significant emotional distress, and she is shown having a mental breakdown as a result.
Despite her external success, Yoo Mi Rae’s life is far from perfect, and she is dealing with pressures that seem impossible to overcome. In an emotionally charged moment in the teaser, she confesses to her younger sister, Yoo Mi Ji, “I can’t do this with a deflated mind,” hinting at the weight she is carrying. Yoo Mi Rae’s vulnerability is met with concern from her sister, who insists, “Why are you holding it in?!” and offers unwavering support.
The conversation takes a turning point when Mi Ji asks her sister what she truly wants out of life. Yoo Mi Rae, overwhelmed by uncertainty, tearfully admits, “I don’t know either.” In a heartfelt gesture, Mi Ji, determined to help her sister, proposes a life-altering plan: “I’ll live as you.” This leads to Mi Ji’s bold decision to offer her sister the chance to live out her own dreams—by switching places with her. Mi Ji urges Yoo Mi Rae to take her place as a sportswoman, allowing her to escape the crushing societal and familial expectations, even if only for a brief period.
Our Unwritten Seoul will air on tvN, premiering on May 24, and will consist of 12 episodes. The drama promises to delve deep into the complexities of family, identity, and self-discovery, as the twins navigate their way through life’s uncertainties.
