A huge amount of illegal drugs has been seized by Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal near Bhakua border point in Birgunj.
Acting on a tip-off, security officials found 81,490 tablets of Tramadol Hydrochloride, a banned drug, being smuggled from Raxaul, India, through the Bhakua entry point in Birgunj Metropolitan City-2. The seized tablets are worth over ₹700,000 in the Indian market.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police Devendra Bahadur Singh, two smugglers were spotted crossing the Sirsia River carrying cartons full of drugs. As soon as they noticed the police, they dropped the boxes and ran away.
Upon checking the cartons, officers found thousands of Tramadol tablets. The recovered drugs have been handed over to the District Police Office, Parsa for legal action. A search is ongoing to find those involved in the smuggling.
