The release of Param Sundari, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, has officially been postponed from July to August 2025. Produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, the romantic drama created quite a buzz online with its first look. But now, fans will have to wait a bit longer to watch this refreshing love story unfold on the big screen.
The change in release date was confirmed through an updated teaser shown during the theatrical run of Maalik on July 11. While the teaser remained unchanged, the end slate was edited—replacing “This July” with “This August,” and the original date of July 25 now simply reads, “In cinemas worldwide this August.”
According to reports, the postponement was a strategic move. While it was initially believed to be to avoid a box office clash with Son of Sardaar 2, new information suggests the decision was made to avoid an overcrowded lineup of romantic dramas. July already has releases like Metro… In Dino and Saiyaara, and the makers didn’t want Param Sundari to get lost in the mix.
A source told Mid-Day, “Param Sundari has its own unique voice. The makers didn’t want it to be just another romantic film among many. Releasing it later gives it room to shine.”
Directed by Dasvi fame Tushar Jalota, Param Sundari explores a cross-cultural romance between a North Indian boy and a South Indian girl. With Sidharth and Janhvi teaming up for the first time, the film promises freshness and depth in storytelling.
The team is also making the most of the delay. A brand-new promotional song is in the works and is expected to be shot closer to the film’s new release window, likely around August 29 or September 5, 2025. The report also noted that Sidharth is currently occupied with his responsibilities as a new father.
Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor will also be seen in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari alongside Varun Dhawan, Rohit Saraf, and Sanya Malhotra, which is set to release on September 12, 2025.
