Mark Shankar, the younger son of Jana Sena Party president and Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan, sustained burn injuries after a fire broke out at his school in Singapore on Tuesday morning. The incident was confirmed by the party through a post on X (formerly Twitter).
According to the statement, Mark suffered burns on his hands and legs and also experienced breathing difficulties due to smoke inhalation. He was promptly moved to a local hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
“Mark Shankar, younger son of Mr. Pawan Kalyan, caught in a fire at school • Injuries to arms and legs… Treatment in hospital (sic),” the party posted.
At the time of the incident, Pawan Kalyan was touring Alluri Sitarama Raju district for official developmental programmes. Party leaders have since urged him to cut short his visit and travel to Singapore to be with his son. However, a party official mentioned that the deputy chief minister intends to complete his scheduled engagements before flying out from Visakhapatnam.
Mark Shankar, born on October 10, 2017, is currently eight years old and studying in Singapore. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
Pawan Kalyan is expected to leave for Singapore shortly to support his son during his recovery.
