The Prime Minister Cup One-Day Men’s National Cricket Tournament began on Sunday in Lamahi.

Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya inaugurated the tournament. At the Deukhuri International Cricket Ground in Lamahi, Chief Minister Acharya batted while Cricket Association President Chatur Bahadur Chand bowled to officially commence the tournament.

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is organizing the tournament simultaneously at three venues: Deukhuri International Cricket Ground in Lamahi, Siddhartha Stadium, and Tilottama ExtraTech Oval Ground.

Inaugurating the tournament, Chief Minister Acharya stated that sports tourism plays a crucial role in the country’s prosperity and development. “Sports tourism is growing, which is a positive aspect,” he said. “Sports have become a foundation for economic prosperity. International and national tournaments are attracting foreign tourists.”
