Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is resting at his official residence in Baluwatar on Thursday after falling ill due to the cold.
On Tuesday evening, PM Oli attended a party and returned to Baluwatar late at night. Following this, he developed throat issues, leading to hoarseness. Doctors advised him to rest, which he has been doing since Wednesday.
Despite taking a break on Wednesday, his voice has not recovered. As a result, Oli has canceled all meetings and scheduled events on Thursday to continue resting at Baluwatar.
On Wednesday, PM Oli also missed the 24th-anniversary celebration of the Armed Police Force due to his health. Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak attended the event as the chief guest instead. Lekhak, who was outside Kathmandu, traveled by road to represent the government at the event.
PM Oli had planned to attend the breakthrough event for the Siddhababa Tunnel on the Butwal-Palpa road section on Thursday. However, his illness forced him to cancel this program as well.
Earlier on Tuesday evening, PM Oli had hosted a CPN-UML Secretariat meeting at Baluwatar. The meeting decided to collaborate with former Vice-Chairman Bamdev Gautam. After the meeting, PM Oli attended a dinner party, following which he started feeling unwell.
