Pokhara Thunders: The Nepal Super League (NSL) has taken strict disciplinary action against Pokhara Thunders FC following a violent incident during their recent match against Lalitpur City FC. The league’s disciplinary committee reviewed the incident and found several violations of conduct, leading to bans and fines.

Major Ban on Sundar Thapa of Pokhara Thunders

The most severe punishment was handed to club official Sundar Thapa. He has been banned from entering the stadium for the rest of NSL 2025 after attempting to enter a restricted area and confronting the referee and tournament director. NSL has ordered the club to immediately return his accreditation card.

Two-Match Ban for Deepak Shrestha

Another club member, Deepak Shrestha, has received a two-match suspension for displaying aggressive and violent behavior in the dugout area. The committee cited his actions as a breach of league discipline and sportsmanship.

Rs. 50,000 Fine for Pokhara Thunders

Pokhara Thunders FC has also been fined Rs. 50,000 for violating the league’s discipline and sporting conduct standards. The league reminded all clubs to maintain professionalism and warned that repeated misconduct could lead to even harsher penalties.

Controversial Goal Sparks the Incident

The chaos began when a header by Nawayug Shrestha was stopped on the goal line by the Lalitpur City FC goalkeeper. Many Pokhara Thunders fans and team members believed it was a clear goal, but match officials ruled it as a legal save. The disagreement escalated into an on-field confrontation.

Frustration boiled over, especially as Pokhara had just lost their previous match 3-2. Team officials felt that the disallowed goal might have earned them a point in the league standings.

Investigation Ongoing

The NSL disciplinary committee is continuing to investigate the incident and stated that further action may be taken if needed. The league emphasized its commitment to fair play and discipline going forward.
