Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has voiced his frustration over VAR, saying it is “killing the game” after his team had a goal overturned in their 1-0 defeat against Chelsea on Thursday in Premier League.

Pape Sarr’s 69th-minute equalizer was ruled out due to a foul in the buildup. Video assistant referee (VAR) Jarred Gillett and on-field referee Craig Pawson took a long time to make the decision, leading to 12 minutes of stoppage time.

Postecoglou Slams Long Delays

Postecoglou was not just upset with the decision but with the lengthy review process.

“You’re standing around for 12 minutes. It’s killing the game,” he said. “No one cares about that. People love the drama and controversy. But it’s ruining the spectacle.”

He also questioned the need for such a long review.

“If the referee needed six minutes to decide, how is it ‘clear and obvious’?” he asked.

Despite the frustration, Tottenham will now have to move forward and focus on their upcoming matches.
