Prem Lal Kushari of Dangisharan-2, Kauwaghari, who was earlier reported to have died from falling off a tree, has been revealed to have been shot and killed.
On the evening of Magh 3, locals brought Kushari to Rapti Provincial Hospital in Tulsipur, claiming he had been injured after falling from a tree near his home. Kushari sustained severe injuries to his knee and thigh and was referred to Nepalgunj for further treatment, where doctors declared him dead. His body was brought home later that night, and preparations were underway for his cremation.
However, the cremation was halted after neighbors disclosed that Kushari had been shot. The police immediately arrived at his residence last night and began an investigation.
According to police sources, during questioning, some individuals in custody stated that Kushari had died when a gun accidentally discharged while hunting.
Two individuals who had accompanied Kushari to the forest, Chhabilal Dangi and Pushpa Basnet, are currently on the run. Neighbors claim that the three had consumed alcohol together before Pushpa and Chhabilal took Kusari to the Ghattekhola forest, located in Dangisharan-2.
A joint team from Dang District Police Office, Tulsipur Area Police Office, and Khilatpur Area Police Office has reached the incident site and is searching for the weapon. Dang SP Arjun Timilsina also visited the site early this morning.
SP Timilsina stated that a detailed investigation is underway. The deceased’s body has been sent to Bheri Hospital, Banke, for post-mortem.
