R Madhavan has opened up about his finances, admitting that he feels “insecure” when it comes to his bank balance. The actor confessed that he doesn’t actively monitor his financial situation, adding that he has a vague sense of his funds but avoids scrutinizing them too closely. Reflecting on his financial habits, he revealed that he once tracked his balance using a passbook but no longer does so. In a candid chat on Mashableโs Dubai Journey series, hosted by Rannvijay Singha, Madhavan shared that he doesnโt want to face the reality of his finances too closely, preferring to maintain a general understanding rather than focus on the details.
This admission ties into the theme of his recent film, Hisaab Barabar, which delves into the issue of bank scams. Madhavan’s thoughts about money are also shaped by his lifestyle, which he describes as simple yet fulfilling. For example, he spoke about owning a modest boat and earning a captain’s license during the pandemic. He emphasized that learning new skills is important to him, citing his boat navigation training as an example of how he aims to make each year meaningful by acquiring something new. “It wasnโt too difficult,” he said, explaining that after 10-15 days of study and practical exams, he was awarded his captainโs license.
In a past interview, Madhavan also touched on how his wife, Sarita, feels that he isnโt particularly careful with his spending. However, the actor clarified that while he doesn’t obsess over money, he always ensures that his purchases fit within his budget. He doesn’t indulge in excessive materialism, acknowledging that his stardom doesnโt define his personal possessions. Still, he appreciates the freedom that fame affords him and enjoys that aspect of his life.
On the professional front, Madhavan has been embracing diverse roles, from playing an antagonist in Shaitaan alongside Ajay Devgn and Jyotika to portraying a righteous figure in Hisaab Barabar. He has a number of exciting projects lined up, with films in both Tamil and Hindi. Upcoming Tamil films include Adhirshtasaali and Test, while in Hindi, he will star in Amriki Pandit, De De Pyaar De 2, Kesari Chapter 2, and Dhurandhar. Madhavan is also preparing to take on a major role in an upcoming biopic about Sir Chettur Sankaran Nair, the late lawyer and statesman, set against the backdrop of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre.
