Rachel Brosnahan, celebrated for her role in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, is all set to make her mark as Lois Lane in James Gunn’s highly anticipated Superman. With the film hitting theaters on July 11, 2025, Rachel is embracing the challenge of portraying one of the most iconic characters in comic book history.
Embracing Lois Lane and Her Legacy
In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Rachel opened up about the immense responsibility that comes with stepping into Lois Lane’s shoes. While she admitted that constantly thinking about the expectations could feel overwhelming, she also acknowledged the importance of honoring the legacy.
“You might be crushed under pressure if you think about it too much,” she said. “But we do feel a responsibility to the fans who’ve loved these characters for generations. Ultimately, we trust our writer and director and give it our best.”
Rachel sees Lois as more than just a reporter from Metropolis. For her, Lois symbolizes strength and hope—not only for the fictional world but also for our own.
“These stories inspire us to explore what it means to be human. In many ways, Metropolis feels far from our reality, but in others, it reflects it. Characters like Lois, Jimmy, the Daily Planet team—even Lex Luthor—are our entry points into that universe,” she explained.
A Bollywood Dream
Apart from discussing her role in Superman, Rachel also shared her love for Indian cinema. Recalling her time filming The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, she revealed that Bollywood was often a source of inspiration.
“We talked about Bollywood films all the time on set. We drew a lot from their color and movement,” she shared warmly. “It would be an honor to work in an Indian film—an absolute dream.”
Rachel’s admiration for Indian storytelling and culture makes her dream collaboration with Bollywood not just a possibility, but something fans on both sides of the globe can look forward to.
