Supporters organized rallies in different places to welcome former King Gyanendra Shah. Various organizations, including the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and RPP Nepal, participated in the event. RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden and other top leaders were also present to welcome him.
Former King Gyanendra arrived in Kathmandu from Pokhara. He landed at 3 PM on a chartered flight. Before coming to Pokhara, he had visited the Alamdevi Temple in Syangja, which is considered a sacred site for the Shah dynasty.
The rallies caused heavy traffic congestion in different parts of Kathmandu Valley. Due to the crowd near the airport, security was tightened, and passengers entered on foot. The movement of ambulances and other vehicles on the roads was also affected.
