New Delhi: Popular YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia has apologised for his controversial comment made on a roast show. Facing backlash, he admitted that “comedy is not my forte” and that his remark was inappropriate. The 31-year-old posted a message on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “I shouldn’t have said what I said on India’s Got Latent. I’m sorry.”

“It Wasn’t Cool, I Had A Lapse In Judgement”

In his video message, Ranveer acknowledged that his words were not just inappropriate but also not funny. He said he would not try to justify his actions and was only there to apologise. “Obviously, this is not how I wish to use my platform. I personally had a lapse in judgment. It wasn’t cool on my part,” he stated.

Responsibility Towards Audience

Ranveer Allahbadia, who has 4.5 million Instagram followers and 1.05 crore YouTube subscribers, said that many people of all ages watch his content. “I don’t want to take that responsibility lightly. Family is the last thing I would ever disrespect,” he added.

“I Promise To Do Better”

The YouTuber also mentioned that he had asked the makers of the video to remove the insensitive sections. “All I can say is I am sorry. I hope you can forgive me as a human being,” he said.

The Controversial Comment

During his appearance on India’s Got Latent, Ranveer asked a contestant an offensive question. A video clip of his remark went viral, sparking outrage on social media. Many users criticised him, and multiple police complaints were filed against him.

Political Leaders React

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also condemned the comment. “I have not watched it, but I was informed that it was very vulgar. Everyone has freedom of speech, but there are limits. If anyone crosses them, action will be taken,” he stated.

The controversy continues to spark discussions about responsible content creation on digital platforms.
