A 32-year-old man named Malum Rai has been charged with cybercrime for posting an offensive rap video about Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. The video included edited images of the PM and strong language criticizing him.

Rap Video Posted on Personal YouTube Channel

The video, titled “KP CH *R – new rap song 2025…”, was uploaded to Rai’s YouTube channel called Malum Xongtenlee. It quickly caught the attention of authorities due to its disrespectful content and use of altered images.

Authorities Tracked Him Through Facebook and License

Police discovered the video during their regular social media monitoring. They identified Rai through his Facebook profile and verified his identity using his driving license.

Rap Made Using AI App Out of Frustration

During questioning, Rai admitted that he created the rap using an AI music tool called Suno AI. He said he made the song out of frustration with the current political situation in the country.

Legal Charges Filed Under Cyber Law

A charge sheet has been submitted to the Kathmandu District Court. The case falls under Section 47(1) of the Electronic Transactions Act, which covers the misuse of electronic platforms.

Jail Time or Fine If Found Guilty

If the court finds him guilty, Rai could face a jail term of up to 5 years, a fine of up to Rs. 1 lakh, or both, depending on the final decision.
