The devastating flood in Rasuwa’s Bhotekoshi River has claimed several lives. As of now, 11 bodies have been recovered, while 17 people are still missing, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
Speaking at a parliamentary committee meeting on Sunday, NDRRMA Executive Chief Engineer Dinesh Prasad Bhatt said:
“We have found 11 bodies so far, but some of them are only partial remains. One person is injured, and 17 are still missing.”
More than 1,950 security personnel have been deployed for search and rescue operations:
- 749 people for ground rescue
- 200 people for aerial rescue
Damage Overview:
- 23 cargo center container trucks washed away
- 47 electric vehicles swept by the flood
- 6 full-sized vehicles lost
- 2 bridges partially damaged
- Rasuwagadhi Hydropower among 3 hydros heavily affected
- 16 km of road from Syafrubesi to Timure severely damaged
- 1,200 meters of road completely destroyed
Due to a damaged bridge, cross-border movement between Rasuwa and China is currently suspended.
