Reconstruction Begins on Flood-Damaged BP Highway


Repair work has begun on various sections of the BP Highway from Bhakundebesi to Nepalthok under the leadership of the Department of Roads, following damage caused by flooding.

According to the department, work has commenced on a 13-kilometer section of the highway that suffered significant damage. Out of this, reconstruction has started on 8.5 kilometers of the damaged road.

Suman Yogesh, chief of the Bhaktapur Road Division Office, stated that repairs have been initiated at 14 damaged locations. He said, “We have given top priority to the BP Highway at the moment, with the goal of preventing traffic disruptions. If necessary, we will work at night as well.”

Last Saturday, a team led by Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, conducted an on-site inspection of the highway. During the inspection, Minister Dahal assured that there would be no shortage of resources for the reconstruction of the road.
