Roller Derby: Nepal’s Women’s Team Gears Up in India for the 20th Asian Championship – Exclusive Training Update

Roller Derby Nepal’s National Women’s Team

Nepal’s national women’s roller derby team is traveling to Punjab, India, for a 10-day intensive training camp from April 18 to 28. This is part of their preparation for the 20th Asian Roller Skating Championship, which will take place from July 19 to 30 in Incheon City, South Korea.

Training Dates and Official Confirmation

The training camp in Punjab will be held from April 18 to April 28. This information was shared by Achyut Khanal, the President of the Nepal Skating and Skateboarding Association. The Nepali team is leaving for India today.

List of Team Members and Officials: Roller Derby

The team includes the following players:
Kripa Pant, Presika Bohora, Nayana Shakya, Prasuna Lama, Ayushma Thakuri, Nimisha Tamang, Pasang Yangji Sherpa, Yogina Shrestha, and Suchina Bhaju.

The team manager is Sanju Shrestha, and the official representative is Bikash Lama.

Farewell Program by Sports Authorities

A farewell event was held to send off the 11-member Nepali team. The team was officially seen off by:

  • Tanka Lal Ghising, Member Secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC)
  • Kamal Prasad Bhattarai, Board Member of NSC
  • Achyut Khanal, President of the Nepal Skating and Skateboarding Association

Six Months of Training in Nepal Before Departure

According to Saty Thapa, General Secretary of the Skating Association, the team has already been training in Nepal for the past six months. This training in India is aimed at further strengthening their performance.

Support from Yeti Airlines and Coach’s Statement

The Nepali women’s roller derby team has received co-sponsorship from Yeti Airlines to support their journey.

Dilip Raj Baral, the head coach of the roller derby team, expressed confidence that the team is preparing to win medals for Nepal in the upcoming championship. He also emphasized that roller skating has great potential in Nepal.
