The American Music Awards (AMAs) unveiled their 2025 nominations earlier today, and as always, the lineup features an impressive mix of industry heavyweights. Artists such as Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, Sabrina Carpenter, SZA, and Taylor Swift lead the pack with multiple nominations.
But it’s Rosé from BLACKPINK who’s truly turning heads this year.
The K-pop star has made history, becoming the first-ever K-pop artist to receive a nomination outside the K-pop category. In a groundbreaking moment, Rosé is also the only female artist nominated in the Favorite K-pop Artist category this year — a category otherwise dominated by male acts such as Stray Kids, ATEEZ, and BTS’s Jimin and RM.
Rosé’s record-breaking hit “APT”, a collaboration with Bruno Mars, earned her a spot in the Collaboration of the Year category. The competition is fierce, with nominees including:
- Kendrick Lamar & SZA – Luther
- Bruno Mars & Lady Gaga – Die with a Smile
- Marshmello & Kane Brown – Miles on It
- Post Malone & Morgan Wallen – I Had Some Help
- Taylor Swift & Post Malone – Fortnight
Released last December, “APT” quickly climbed the charts and became an international sensation. Inspired by Rosé’s favorite Korean drinking game — which she introduced to global fans through various appearances — the track struck a chord worldwide. It’s currently enjoying its 26th consecutive week on the Billboard Hot 100, setting a new record for the longest-charting single by a female K-pop artist in the U.S.
This milestone surpasses the previous record held by girl group Fifty Fifty’s 2023 hit Cupid, which stayed on the chart for 25 weeks.
The 2025 AMAs, hosted by Jennifer Lopez, will take place in Las Vegas on May 26. All eyes will be on Rosé as she stands on the brink of making more history.
