Indian blockbuster RRR has once again made the country proud on the global stage. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recently announced a brand-new category called Best Stunt Design, which will officially be part of the 100th Academy Awards in 2028, covering films released in 2027.
To celebrate the launch of this category, the Academy shared iconic stunt scenes from three films on Instagram—and one of them was from RRR. The highlighted scene features actor Ram Charan fearlessly leaping toward a tiger, one of the most talked-about action moments in the movie.

The Academy also featured a multiverse action scene from Michelle Yeoh’s Oscar-winning film Everything Everywhere All at Once, and the breathtaking Burj Khalifa climbing scene by Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. This recognition places RRR in the company of some of the biggest global action hits.
RRR at Oscars Again: Rajamouli Thanks the Academy
Director S.S. Rajamouli took to social media to express his joy. On X (formerly Twitter), he wrote:
“After a long wait of 100 years, stunt design finally got a place in the Oscars. Thanks to David Leitch, Chris O’Hara, and the entire stunt community for this historic decision. Also, thanks to Academy CEO Bill Cramer and President Janet Yang who recognized the hard work of stunt artists. It is a proud moment that RRR’s action became a part of this announcement.”
Oscar Journey Continues
This isn’t the first time RRR has made history at the Oscars. In 2023, the film’s hit song ‘Naatu Naatu’ won the award for Best Original Song, creating waves globally. The film stars Junior NTR and Ram Charan in lead roles, with cameo appearances by Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn.
