Rukum Maikot’ Breaks 100M Views

The Nepali song “Rukum Maikot” from the film Khushma is breaking record after record. Composed by SD Yogi, the song has become the first Nepali song to hit 100 million views on YouTube in the shortest time.

According to Nepali time, the song achieved this milestone on Wednesday night. Released 23 weeks ago, it made history by streaming on YouTube’s Global Trending for one and a half months during the months of Ashoj and Kartik.

Previously, the record for the fastest Nepali song to reach 100 million views on YouTube was held by the song Sali Manparyo from the movie Ghamad Shere. However, in less than six months, Rukum Maikot broke that record. It seems unlikely that any Nepali song will break this record anytime soon.

Rukum Maikot features music by Yogi, vocals by Yogi and Shantishree Pariyar, and lyrics by Surendra Rana. As of the time this news was being prepared, the song is still streaming in the top spot on YouTube’s charts for the past year. Last week, it was in fourth place on the YouTube chart.

In the last week of January, the song ranked third in Nepal for the most-watched on YouTube, with nearly 1.8 million views in just one week. According to YouTube data, it has been watched more from outside Nepal, especially from Nepali-speaking regions in India, such as Assam, Siliguri, and Guwahati.

Actor Dheeraj Magar, who starred in the song’s video, expressed his happiness over the song crossing the 100 million mark. He mentioned that it has also become a popular track for TikTok videos, with many people making videos to it. He highlighted that it has set a new record for the most-watched Nepali song on social media.
