Ryan Reynolds never misses a chance to drop a joke, and Sunday night was no different. The actor attended the star-studded 50th-anniversary celebration of Saturday Night Live alongside his wife, Blake Lively. This marked their first public appearance in a while, amid Lively’s ongoing legal dispute with her It Ends With Us co-star, Justin Baldoni. And, true to form, Ryan couldn’t resist poking fun at the situation.
Ryan’s Joke That Had Everyone Talking
During the event, hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler took a moment to acknowledge Reynolds and Lively in the audience. “Ryan! How’s it going?” they asked. Without missing a beat, the Deadpool star quipped, “Great! Why, what have you heard?”
Blake, who had been smiling until that point, looked up at her husband in surprise, as if caught off guard by his remark. Fans on social media were quick to react. “Ryan and Blake are absolutely amazing,” one person tweeted. Another added, “Reynolds always delivers the best lines.” A third joked, “I bet even he double-checked Blake’s following list after that one!”
The Blake Lively vs. Justin Baldoni Legal Battle
Lively has accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and claims he orchestrated a smear campaign against her. These allegations were outlined in a complaint filed with the California Civil Rights Department, which later turned into a full-blown lawsuit.
Baldoni, however, has denied all allegations and responded by filing a defamation lawsuit against The New York Times for its coverage of the case. On January 16, he escalated the legal fight further by suing Lively, Reynolds, and their publicist for $400 million.
Baldoni’s Fight to Clear His Name
Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, stated that the ongoing legal battles have taken a major toll on his client, both financially and emotionally. “The accusations have devastated him,” Freedman said during a pre-trial conference.
In an attempt to defend himself, Baldoni has released behind-the-scenes footage from the It Ends With Us set and launched a website sharing text messages between him and Lively. Despite these efforts, his lawyer insists that once allegations surface, they often stick—making them incredibly difficult to fight.
With no resolution in sight, this legal drama is far from over. But for now, Reynolds and Lively are back in the public eye—handling the chaos with humor, as always.
