Nepal’s star forward, Sabitra Bhandari, popularly known as ‘Samba,’ has arrived in Kathmandu to represent the national team in an international women’s football tournament.

Bhandari, who has been playing club football in France, landed in Nepal on Monday morning. She will be part of the Nepal squad competing in a four-nation tournament featuring Nepal, Myanmar, Lebanon, and Kyrgyzstan, which kicks off today.

The opening match will see Myanmar face Lebanon at 2 PM, followed by Nepal taking on Kyrgyzstan at 6 PM. However, Bhandari will miss Nepal’s first match as she will be resting after her long journey, head coach Rajendra Tamang confirmed.

Nepal previously dominated Kyrgyzstan in a historic 8-2 victory six years ago, with Bhandari scoring four goals in that match.

Following their opener, Nepal will face Lebanon on Thursday and Myanmar on Sunday. The top two teams from the single round-robin stage will advance to the final.
