Nepal U-19 thrashed Sri Lanka 5-0 to book their place in the SAFF U-19 Championship semifinals in Arunachal Pradesh, India. With one match to spare, Nepal U-19 are through alongside India.

After winning their opening game, Nepal U-19 secured a semifinal spot early. Sri Lanka, who had suffered an 8-0 loss to India, exited the tournament with this second consecutive defeat.

Now both India and Nepal have advanced from Group B. Tuesday’s match between them will decide the group winner.

In the group match held at Golden Jubilee Stadium, Nepal showed complete dominance:

  • Subash Bam Thakuri, who was exceptional throughout, made it 3-0 in the 77th.
  • Bigyan Khadka added the fourth in the 89th minute.
  • Lachhu Thapa sealed the win with a stunning free-kick in injury time.
