Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7

The next big foldable from Samsung is coming soon — the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7. Here’s everything we know so far, from its design and display to battery and performance upgrades.

A Familiar Design With Some Small Changes

Don’t expect a completely new look for the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Samsung is known for refining rather than redesigning its foldables. Just like with previous models, the Z Flip 7 is likely to look a lot like the Z Flip 6, with only a few minor tweaks.

Some leaks suggest that the new phone could look a bit more “boxy” and slightly bigger — around 166.6 x 75.2 x 6.9mm — compared to last year’s version. However, leaked renders show very subtle differences. There’s also a rumor about a titanium build, but that might be reserved for the premium Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Samsung’s impressive dual-rail hinge from the Z Flip 6 is expected to return with further durability improvements. It’s built to last up to 200,000 folds and offers a smooth, sturdy experience. While it may not be dustproof like IP68-rated phones, it still protects well against larger particles with its IP48 rating.

Display Upgrades That Could Make a Big Impact

This year, Samsung is expected to make a noticeable upgrade to the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s screen. The main foldable display might grow from 6.7 inches to either 6.8 or 6.85 inches, and the bezels could shrink for a cleaner look.

While full “crease-free” tech might still be a year away, reports suggest the crease will be less visible on this model — a small but welcome change. There’s also hope that the new model will be more competitive with rivals like Oppo and OnePlus when it comes to display quality.

The cover screen is getting an even bigger boost. Sources claim it will grow to 4 inches from the previous 3.4 inches, possibly covering most of the front panel. The goal? To finally make the outer display fully usable. Unlike past models where it only handled widgets and notifications, the new version might let users interact with full apps.

If Samsung does this right, the cover screen could become a true game-changer, just like what we’ve seen from Motorola’s Razr Plus.

Cameras Stay the Same — But Smarter

Camera lovers may be a little disappointed, as the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to keep the same camera setup as last year. That means a 50MP main lens, 12MP ultra-wide, and a 10MP selfie camera.

The good news? Samsung is likely to enhance photo quality with better internal tech. A stronger image signal processor (ISP) and improved AI-powered tools may help deliver sharper, more colorful photos even in low light.

AI photography tools, like those found on the Galaxy S25 series, may also make their way to the Z Flip 7 — things like automatic edits and smart photo suggestions.

Power and Performance: What’s Under the Hood

There’s been some debate about which chip the Z Flip 7 will use: Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (Elite for Galaxy) or Samsung’s Exynos 2500. However, due to supply issues with Exynos chips, most experts now believe Samsung will stick with Qualcomm, especially for the North American market.

As for storage and RAM, nothing new is expected. The Z Flip 7 will likely launch with 12GB of RAM and two storage options — 256GB and 512GB. Sadly, don’t count on a 1TB version this time around.

Battery Life Gets a Small but Smart Boost

Battery size is expected to grow slightly — from 4,000mAh to 4,300mAh. That’s a 7.5% increase, but the real improvements may come from efficiency, not size.

Thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and new Eco²OLED display tech, the phone should use power more wisely. Samsung may also introduce new ways to rely more on the cover screen, so you don’t need to open the phone as often, saving even more battery.

Some early test results hint that the Z Flip 7 could last nearly an hour longer than the Z Flip 6, even with the same or slightly larger battery.

Charging Speeds Remain the Same

Here’s one area that won’t see any changes: charging. According to reports from China’s 3C certification, the Z Flip 7 will stick with the same charging speeds as the Z Flip 6. That means we probably won’t see faster charging this year.

Will There Be New Colors?

Samsung hasn’t confirmed any new colors yet. However, it’s known for offering bold and fun options in the Z Flip series, so expect something fresh. Fans are also hoping for a return of the Bespoke Edition, which allowed for more custom color combinations in previous models.
