Sana Makbul Opens Up About Her Battle with Liver Cirrhosis A Journey of Strength and Hope

Actor Sana Makbul has recently left her fans and well-wishers deeply concerned after her close friend Aashna posted a photo of Sana lying in a hospital bed. The 31-year-old actress has revealed that her health has taken a serious turn as she now battles liver cirrhosis — a severe advancement of the autoimmune hepatitis she has been fighting for some time.

Sana opens up about her condition, saying, “I’ve been living with autoimmune hepatitis for quite a while, but lately, it’s worsened. My immune system has started attacking my liver more aggressively, leading to this diagnosis of liver cirrhosis.” Despite the gravity of her illness, Sana remains determined. “I’m focusing on staying strong and taking things one day at a time,” she adds.

Currently, Sana has begun an intense immunotherapy treatment aimed at managing her condition and hopefully avoiding the need for a liver transplant. “The doctors and I are doing everything possible to prevent a transplant. Immunotherapy is demanding and exhausting — some days are tougher than others. But I hold onto hope. I want to heal without undergoing something as drastic as a transplant. It won’t be easy, but I’m not ready to give up,” Sana shares with heartfelt honesty. She continues, “There are days I cry, days I laugh, but every single day, I keep trying. Healing is a journey, and I’m learning along the way.”

Sana’s decline wasn’t sudden; she has been managing her illness for some time, but a recent flare-up forced her to pause her work commitments. “This hasn’t happened overnight. I’ve been dealing with this for a while, but recently it got worse. It’s been hard to take a step back from work, especially after working so hard to reach where I am. It hurts a bit, but I’m still moving forward, even if it’s slower than before — that’s what counts now,” she says.

The struggle is not just physical but emotional as well. Sana candidly discusses the mental and financial pressures of battling a chronic illness as an independent woman. “It’s incredibly challenging — emotionally, mentally, and physically — especially when you have to keep yourself going in every way. I remind myself that this is just a phase. I need to be extra cautious now. Life has changed, but I want to live fully. I’m confident I will come out stronger because I’m a fighter,” she affirms.

Her family has been a vital source of support during this difficult time. “My family has been my rock through everything. Sometimes, it seems harder for them to watch me in pain than it is for me to endure it. They’ve witnessed my breakdowns,” Sana reveals. “My mom may not say much, but her quiet strength is powerful. My dad tries to stay strong even when he’s worried. They never let me feel alone, not even on the toughest days. Healing isn’t just about medicine — it’s about love and support.”

Sana Makbul’s resilience and openness serve as a poignant reminder of the strength it takes to face chronic illness, and her journey continues to inspire many who are rooting for her recovery.
