Actors Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty, and Dhruva Sarja gathered in Mumbai on Thursday for the teaser launch of their upcoming Kannada film KD—The Devil. During the media interaction, Sanjay Dutt opened up about his increasing involvement in South Indian films and his concerns about the current state of Bollywood.
When asked what he takes away from working in Tollywood and other South industries, Sanjay didn’t hold back. “I take back the passion (from Tollywood), which Bollywood has lost. And I hope it comes back. That’s what I miss back home—the passion to make a good film,” he said. He added, “It’s not about numbers, it’s about passion.”
Sanjay also spoke about his experience working with Prabhas in the upcoming Telugu film The Raja Saab. He shared, “He makes me eat a lot! Prabhas is one of the most amazing, wonderful people and a great actor.”
The actor then went on to shower praise on other South Indian stars. “I love Chiranjeevi sir. He’s done Munna Bhai out here. I share a beautiful relationship with him. God bless him,” he said. He also called Nagarjuna, his Chandralekha (1998) co-star, “a very close friend, like a brother,” and described Ram Pothineni, his Double iSmart (2024) co-star, as “a wonderful boy.”
Sanjay also joked that it took him so long to work in the South simply because no one invited him. “It took me so much time to work here because aap logon ne bulaya nahi. Aap bulao, mai aajau (You didn’t call me. You call me, I’ll come),” he smiled.
KD—The Devil is set to hit theatres on July 10, 2026. Before that, Sanjay will be seen in Akhanda 2 and The Raja Saab in Telugu, Dhurandhar and Baap in Hindi, and Sheran Di Kaum Punjabi in Punjabi.
