Houston rapper Sauce Walka and his TSF artist Sayso P were shot in Memphis on Saturday afternoon. Sauce Walka’s family confirmed to KHOU 11 News that the 34-year-old rapper was shot in the thigh and taken to a nearby hospital. He is expected to survive.
Sadly, the person with Walka was killed in the shooting. While police have not officially identified the victim, rapper YTB Fatt, who had partied with Walka and Sayso P just hours earlier, confirmed Sayso P’s death on Instagram, writing:
“Fly high soldier. May God give your family strength. Get your rest.”
What Happened?
The shooting took place around 2:42 p.m. on Lt. George W. Lee Avenue, near the FedExForum in downtown Memphis.
According to HTX Media, Sauce Walka and Sayso P were reportedly shopping when a suspect vehicle drove up and opened fire before fleeing. Witnesses reported hearing 3-5 gunshots.
Memphis Police released a statement saying the incident appeared to be targeted and not random:
“At approx. 2:42 p.m. today, officers responded to a shooting at the 100 block of George W. Lee Ave. One male was pronounced deceased, and another male was transported to the hospital in non-critical condition. This appears to be an isolated incident, not random violence. Officers have identified the suspect vehicle and are actively working to make an arrest.”
Sauce Walka’s Father Speaks Out
Albert Walker, Sauce Walka’s father, spoke to KHOU 11 News and expressed gratitude that his son survived.
“Had it not been for God, my son would’ve been dead,” he said.
Hours Before the Tragedy
Just hours before the shooting, Sauce Walka shared videos and photos with Sayso P on social media. They were seen flying to Memphis, heading to a party, and enjoying a night out at a Memphis club with rapper YTB Fatt.

Sayso P was a rising rapper from Houston and a member of The Sauce Factory (TSF), known for representing Houston’s distinct rap sound and style. His loss has shocked the TSF community and fans.
