After the massive box office success of Shaitaan, Ajay Devgn and his team are gearing up for the film’s highly anticipated sequel. The horror-thriller’s gripping climax left audiences wanting more, prompting the makers to move ahead with Shaitaan 2. While early reports confirmed that writer Aamil Keeyan Khan had begun work on the sequel, new updates suggest that the script is now ready—but there’s a twist in the tale.
According to a report by Mid-Day, Devgn currently has two different storylines to choose from for the second installment. One is an original script penned by Khan, while the other is a potential Hindi adaptation of the upcoming Gujarati sequel Vash Level 2, which is set to release in August 2025.
A source close to the project revealed that Devgn is likely to make a final decision only after the release of Vash Level 2. The Gujarati film picks up the story 12 years after the first part, with the lead character discovering that an evil force still haunts his daughter. While Vash ended on a tragic note with the protagonist losing his wife and son, Shaitaan had a more hopeful conclusion, with Devgn’s character saving his daughter and reuniting with his family.
This difference in climaxes is the main reason the Shaitaan team initially developed an original script for the sequel, while keeping the core backstory intact. However, if Vash Level 2 becomes a commercial success, Ajay Devgn is reportedly open to acquiring the rights to the Gujarati film and having it adapted for Hindi audiences by Khan.
Talks are already underway between Devgn’s production team and Vash Level 2’s writer-director Krishnadev Yagnik. Should the deal go through, the sequel may blend elements from both the original storyline and the adapted version.
Director Vikas Bahl, who helmed the first part, will return to direct Shaitaan 2. The sequel is expected to begin production in 2026. Alongside Devgn, actors R Madhavan, Jyotika, and Janki Bodiwala are also set to reprise their roles. Interestingly, the sequel will feature a more intense and aggressive version of Ajay Devgn’s character, a departure from his more composed role in the first film.
Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn’s slate is packed with high-profile releases including Drishyam 3, Son Of Sardaar 2, De De Pyaar De 2, and Dhamaal 4.
