Shark Tank Nepal Set to Launch in 2025

The highly anticipated global business reality show, Shark Tank, will officially debut in Nepal in 2025. Originating in Japan in 2001 as Money Tigers, the show has grown into the world’s most adapted business reality series, with over 50 versions produced across different countries.

Shark Tank has become a major success in regions such as the United States, Mexico, India, and Pakistan, and is distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures Television under various titles, including Lions’ Den and Dragons’ Den.

In Nepal, Himalaya Television HD has secured exclusive rights to produce and broadcast Shark Tank Nepal. The network has generated significant excitement for the show, receiving strong responses from both new and established business owners eager for investment opportunities.

For Season 1, Shark Tank Nepal has assembled a group of prominent Nepali business tycoons, known as “Sharks,” who will invest in promising businesses. The Sharks for this season include Hem Raj Dhakal, Cabinet Shrestha, Ritu Singh Vaidya, Anand Bagaria, and Saurabh Jyoti.

Sonika Bhasin, Vice President of International Distribution, South Asia for Sony Pictures Television, expressed her excitement about bringing the show to Nepal, following its success in India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. She highlighted that Shark Tank has empowered entrepreneurs globally and aims to foster a culture of entrepreneurship in Nepal.

Shyam Kadel, Executive Director of Himalaya TV HD, emphasized the significance of launching Shark Tank Nepal despite challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic and economic hurdles. He believes the show will not only entertain but also revolutionize Nepal’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Himalaya TV HD plans to air a 20-episode series for Season 1 and is calling for applications from Nepali businesses seeking investment. To apply, businesses must be registered and operational for at least a year in Nepal, with Nepali citizens as founders. Applications can be submitted via the Himalaya TV app or website, and the deadline is January 15, 2025.

The Shark Tank Nepal panel of Sharks will offer entrepreneurs a chance to pitch their businesses and potentially secure investments that could change their futures.
