Renowned Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar recently revealed that he continued shooting for his upcoming film “45” even while undergoing chemotherapy for bladder cancer. The actor, who underwent surgery in Miami, US, two months ago, has now returned to India and is on the path to recovery.
Shiva Rajkumar on Shooting After Cancer Diagnosis
In a candid conversation on the Masth Magaa podcast, Shiva Rajkumar shared his emotions upon learning about his diagnosis. He admitted feeling scared but quickly accepted that surgery was the only option. However, amidst these health concerns, another thought was weighing on his mind—finishing the shoot for “45” before the procedure.
“I had just one question: Can I finish “45” before surgery? I was worried because chemotherapy causes hair loss, and I wanted to complete my work first,” he said.
Despite receiving medical clearance to continue shooting, doctors advised him not to overexert himself. He recalled how he would complete chemo sessions and then head straight to the set, a process that left him exhausted.
Shiva hinted that the film’s climax will shock audiences when they realize the physical effort he put in during such a challenging time. “My role needed me to be calm and composed, rather than aggressive,” he added.
Support from Family, Industry, and Fans
Shiva Rajkumar expressed gratitude for the immense support he received during his battle with cancer. “I truly believe that God and my father (Rajkumar) were watching over me,” he said.
He also acknowledged the love and encouragement from his wife, family, colleagues in the film industry, and fans. “It’s a blessing, and I don’t even know who to thank first,” he said, reflecting on his journey.
