Two children have gone missing after drowning in the Narayani River.
According to police, a sister and brother went missing in the Narayani River yesterday evening near British Camp in Gaindakot-1, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat–Susta East).
Acting Chief of the Area Police Office in Gaindakot, Sub-Inspector Sanukaji Bista, said the missing children are 13-year-old Diksha Serpunja and 9-year-old Swapnil Serpunja, both from Gaindakot-1.
He said, “The children had gone to the river with their grandmother, Sunmaya Kumal. While returning, the grandmother’s slipper fell into the river. When they went to get it, the boy drowned. The sister tried to save him, but she also went missing.”
Search efforts are underway, Bista added.
As the police do not have divers, the search was paused yesterday. A team of divers will join the search early tomorrow morning.
