The Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality in Sindhupalchok, which was the epicenter of the recent earthquake, remains in a normal state, according to local authorities. Pasang Nurpu Sherpa, the rural municipality chairperson, stated that efforts were made to gather information from all wards as soon as the tremors were felt.

“It was a strong jolt, possibly because we were at the epicenter,” said Sherpa. “However, no reports of damage have come in so far. Since the earthquake struck at night, some details might not be known yet. We are still collecting information from all wards.”

A minor dry landslide occurred in the municipality but was cleared early in the morning. “It wasn’t a new landslide—just some loose stones from an old one. The Armed Police Force cleared it immediately,” Sherpa added.

Similarly, Sangbu Lama, the ward chairperson of Bhotekoshi-1, confirmed that no significant damage had been reported so far. “We are still gathering information, but it doesn’t seem to have caused much harm,” he said.

The earthquake, measuring 6.1 magnitude, had its epicenter in Bhairabkunda, Sindhupalchok. Authorities continue to monitor the situation for any further developments.
