A 60-year-old man has been killed in Dewanganj Rural Municipality–2 of Sunsari district.
The victim has been identified as 60-year-old local resident Sachiv Ansari, who was stabbed to death on Wednesday morning. Police have arrested his son, Mohammad Riyaz Ansari, on suspicion of committing the murder.
According to preliminary police investigations, the incident occurred following a dispute over land. During the argument, Riyaz allegedly attacked his father with a knife.
Sachiv Ansari, who sustained critical injuries in the stabbing, was rushed to Golden Hospital in Biratnagar for treatment. However, he died during the course of treatment.
Police have confirmed that Mohammad Riyaz Ansari has been arrested on charges of involvement in his father’s murder.
Superintendent of Police Suman Kumar Timilsina, chief of Sunsari police, informed that legal proceedings have begun against the accused under charges of homicide.
