After months of speculation, actors Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal have confirmed that they are married. The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at home, surrounded by their close family and friends. They chose the Special Marriage Act for their union and have been happily enjoying married life for the past few months. Prior to the wedding, rumors had circulated suggesting that Sonakshi’s father, actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha, disapproved of the marriage. However, those rumors were dispelled when he attended the ceremony, putting any concerns to rest.
In a conversation with Hauterrfly, Sonakshi addressed the topic of their different religions. She explained, “We didn’t focus on religion at all. We’re two people in love who wanted to get married, and that’s what we did. He doesn’t impose his religion on me, and I don’t impose mine on him. Religion never came up between us; we simply appreciate and respect each other’s cultures.” She further mentioned that while they both follow different traditions in their homes, mutual respect for one another’s family values remains the cornerstone of their relationship.
Sonakshi also cleared the air about conversion, saying, “There was never any question of conversion. We love each other, and that was enough.”
When asked about her father’s reaction to her decision to marry Zaheer, Sonakshi shared that Shatrughan was very calm and supportive. He told her that her happiness was what mattered most to him and encouraged them both to move forward.
Before tying the knot, Sonakshi and Zaheer had been in a relationship for seven years. Now, as a married couple, they continue to share a deep bond, enjoying adventurous trips together and having fun with playful pranks.
