Sony’s PlayStation Network (PSN) faced a major outage, leaving thousands of gamers unable to sign in or play online. The issue, which started on Friday, affected popular games like Call of Duty and Fortnite, with over 14,000 reports of disruptions at one point.
Sony Acknowledges the Problem
On Saturday, Sony confirmed the outage and assured players they were working on a fix. In a post on its social media account X (formerly Twitter), the company stated:
“We are aware some users might be currently experiencing issues with PSN. You might have difficulty signing in or creating an account for PlayStation Network. We are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”
The issue impacted multiple PlayStation platforms, including PS Vita, PS3, PS4, and PS5, as well as the web-based services.
Thousands Report Problems
Data from Downdetector showed a spike in reports from frustrated users since Friday. Many players took to social media to share their experiences, with some unable to access online features for most of the day.
While Sony has not shared the exact cause of the outage, they have assured players that their teams are actively working on a solution. Gamers are advised to check Sony’s service status page for updates.
Ongoing Frustration
With online gaming now a major part of PlayStation’s experience, any network issue affects a large number of users. Players waiting for the fix are hoping for a quick resolution so they can return to their favorite games.
For now, Sony has not provided an estimated time for when the network will be fully restored. Gamers are encouraged to stay patient and keep an eye on official updates from Sony.
