Actress Srijana Ningleku has officially joined the cast of the upcoming Nepali film Mirmire, directed by Yam Sherpa. The production team confirmed her involvement on Sunday, announcing the collaboration as her second with director Sherpa.
Sirjana had earlier worked with Yam Sherpa on their debut film Karsang, where she played opposite actor Dayahang Rai. Mirmire will mark their second project together.
Lead roles already confirmed
Before Sirjana’s announcement, popular actor Dayahang Rai and singer-turned-actor Prakash Saput had already been confirmed as lead actors in the film. However, the makers are keeping Sirjana’s exact role under wraps for now.
There is also suspense around which male lead Sirjana will be paired with — Dayahang or Prakash — as the production team has chosen not to reveal that detail yet.
Second time sharing screen with Dayahang
Interestingly, Sirjana had previously played Dayahang Rai’s love interest in Karsang. So Mirmire will also be her second on-screen collaboration with him.
Film rooted in rural storytelling
Mirmire is written and directed by Yam Sherpa himself. He has revealed that the film will be based on a story set in a rural backdrop, reflecting the struggles and life of the countryside.
Produced under Yarsa Films banner
The film is being produced under the banner of Yarsa Films. The producers include Nimu Sherpa, Chongba Lama Sherpa, and Angchiring Sherpa. The team plans to release the movie later this year.
