Filmmaker SS Rajamouli has stirred excitement with a major update regarding his highly anticipated project, Mahabharata. Although the director has previously hinted at his plans for this epic venture, this marks the first time he has officially confirmed details about the film, including the involvement of actor Nani.
At a recent pre-release event for Hit: The Third Case in Hyderabad, anchor Suman Kanakala addressed a rumor surrounding the casting of Mahabharata. She inquired whether it was true that Nani had been finalized for a role in the film. Rajamouli confirmed, stating, “All I can say is that Nani is definitely a part of it.”
Rajamouli has long expressed his desire to adapt the Mahabharata for the big screen, with his vision of turning the ancient epic into a 10-part film series. Speaking about his ambition during the promotions of RRR, the director emphasized the depth of research involved in such a project, noting that he would need a year to explore the various versions of the Mahabharata across India. He further revealed that the script would come first, followed by the casting process.
The director also commented on the distinct approach he plans to take with the story. He explained that while the core Mahabharata tale would remain unchanged, his version would offer a fresh perspective on the characters and their relationships.
As for the involvement of stars like Ram Charan and Jr NTR, Rajamouli kept the details under wraps, stating that casting decisions would only be made once the script was complete. While fans have speculated about potential roles for these popular actors, the filmmaker emphasized that his rendition of the Mahabharata would offer unique interpretations of the characters, diverging from conventional depictions.
