Sub-Engineer Dies in Lalitpur, Swept Away by Flood

A 21-year-old sub-engineer, Sabin Dahal, lost his life on Wednesday evening after being swept away by a sudden flood in a small stream at Thuladurlung, Mahankal Rural Municipality–6, located in southeast Lalitpur. The flash flood occurred around 7:30 PM in the Baryang Khola area following continuous rainfall.

Sabin, a resident of Harisiddhi, Lalitpur Metropolitan City–29, originally from Kaleshwor in Mahankal–4, was working in the area when the flood struck. According to Mahankal-6 ward chairperson Binod Chaulagain, local search teams found his body at around 10 PM the same night.

Due to the disaster, roads in the entire region have been blocked, making rescue and communication difficult. The rural municipality has already requested assistance from the Nepali Army, and a helicopter has been summoned for emergency response.

This tragic incident highlights the increasing danger of flash floods in hilly regions during monsoon season and the urgent need for local disaster preparedness.
