The fourth edition of the Sundarharaincha Birat Expo is set to take place from February 12 to 22, with the primary objective of raising funds for the construction of public toilets in the municipality. Organized by the Sundarharaincha Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the event aims to generate resources to complete ongoing toilet projects and initiate new ones.
Infrastructure Development Through Expo
Currently, the municipality has two public toilets, while construction is underway for two more. According to Narayan Karki, President of the Chamber, proceeds from the expo will be directed toward completing the under-construction facilities in Haraincha and Khorsane and adding two additional public toilets.
Budget and Exhibition Highlights
The expo is estimated to cost Rs. 40 million, with an expected Rs. 10 million in savings for the intended development projects. This year’s event will feature 200 stalls, categorized as follows:
- 85 stalls showcasing industrial products
- 40 stalls displaying agricultural and home-based goods
- 40 stalls dedicated to educational institutions, banks, and financial institutions
- 20 stalls for automobile businesses
- 15 stalls representing hotels
With 80% of the stalls already booked, the expo is expected to draw significant participation. A 501-member main organizing committee and 19 sub-committees have been formed to ensure smooth execution.
Expectations and Special Attractions
To encourage student participation, entry will be free for students, Karki announced. Last year’s edition saw 150,000 visitors, and this year, the organizers anticipate 300,000 attendees.
Adding to the vibrancy of the event, the expo will feature daily cultural performances, including municipality-level dance and music competitions. Additionally, a chess tournament and a literary event will be held at the venue, further enriching the experience for visitors.
