Despite facing criticism over her appointment as the brand ambassador for Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL), actor Tamannaah Bhatia appears unaffected by the ongoing row. On Sunday, she took to Instagram to share glimpses of her day, exuding calm and confidence.
The Bollywood star posted a selfie on her Instagram Stories, wearing an animal-print outfit paired with layered necklaces and sunglasses. Though she didn’t caption the image, the post spoke volumes about her composed attitude. In another Story, she wished filmmaker Karan Johar on his birthday, showing that her focus remains on personal and professional connections rather than the controversy.
KSDL Appointment Sparks Debate
Tamannaah was officially announced as the face of KSDL’s soap brand on May 22. However, the decision drew backlash from pro-Kannada groups in Bengaluru, who protested against the choice, arguing that a local Kannada actor should have been selected to represent the state-run brand.
Reports indicate that the actor has been offered a ₹6.2 crore deal for the endorsement. Critics claim this move disregards regional representation.
Government Defends Decision
MB Patil, Karnataka’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries, addressed the backlash during a recent press conference. He emphasized that the issue was not about language or regional pride, but about expanding the brand’s reach beyond Karnataka.
“I deeply respect Kannada identity, but this is a commercial decision,” Patil said. “Our goal is to elevate Karnataka’s products on a national and international scale.”
He further explained that Tamannaah, with a massive social media following of 28 million, was a strategic choice. Other potential candidates such as Rashmika Mandanna were unavailable, while actors like Deepika Padukone exceeded the budget.
A Star in Spotlight
Even as the controversy unfolds, Tamannaah Bhatia remains in the spotlight—both for her brand collaborations and her poised public demeanor. Judging by her recent Instagram activity, the actor seems committed to moving forward without letting criticism dictate her narrative.
