The National Defence Academy recently hosted the first screening of Anupam Kher’s directorial film, Tanvi The Great. On July 6, cadets and officers gathered to watch the movie on the big screen, and their response was overwhelming—they gave the film a standing ovation. Sharing his joy on social media, Anupam Kher called this moment a “blockbuster” in his long and illustrious career.
Posting on Instagram, the veteran actor expressed how special the event was for him, saying, “In my 40 years as an actor and entertainer, this has been the most memorable moment of my life! The first screening of Tanvi The Great in India took place at the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla, a place where young cadets are trained to become officers of our Armed Forces.”
He described the enthusiastic reaction from the audience: “The entire Habibullah Auditorium erupted into thunderous applause that seemed to last forever. I was moved to tears by the joy and gratitude I felt.”
Anupam Kher added, “When more than 2,500 cadets and officers stood up to applaud our labour of love, it felt like a blockbuster moment for us.” Although uncertain about the film’s future success, he is confident that its present shines brightly.
Tanvi The Great, starring Anupam Kher alongside Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, Arvind Swami, Pallavi Joshi, and others, is scheduled for release in theaters on July 18. It will compete at the box office with Nikita Roy, featuring Sonakshi Sinha and Paresh Rawal. The title role of Tanvi is played by young actress Shubhangi Dutt.
