Tarun Dal Khukuri Attack Arrest Warrants Issued Against Four Suspects

A violent clash at the Tarun Dal Lamjung convention took a dangerous turn when four people attacked others with khukuris (traditional knives). The victims’ families filed a complaint, leading to arrest warrants against the accused. The incident has shaken the political atmosphere, with some victims seriously injured and receiving treatment at Chitwan Medical College.

The attack happened during a heated dispute inside the Nepali Congress’s youth wing meeting. Although the complaint was delayed, pressure from victims’ relatives pushed authorities to act. Police confirmed that arrest warrants have been issued for Dhan Subba Tamang, Ganesh Gurung, Kumrashi Gurung, and Homraj Ghale, all wanted for attempted murder charges.

The victims include local leaders and activists, such as Khusijung Gurung, a ward chairperson and regional Tarun Dal leader, and Sudip Adhikari, a central member of the Nepal Student Union. Their injuries are severe, and their families are demanding swift justice.

This violent episode reflects deeper political conflicts within the Nepali Congress factions, particularly between groups supporting ministers Dr. Takaraj Gurung and Bhesh Bahadur. Videos and photos have surfaced showing aggressive behavior and attacks during the convention, revealing the tension and power struggles within the party’s youth wing.

Critics accuse police of delaying action and protecting the attackers, despite the public nature of the violence. Some leaders even tried to calm the situation politically, seeking to resolve the issue quietly rather than through legal means.

The incident ended the convention prematurely after intervention from senior leaders, including Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba. Local activists and political observers warn that such violence damages democracy and calls for stronger measures to stop the use of weapons in political events.

Victims have urged the authorities to arrest the attackers immediately and bring them to justice. Meanwhile, political leaders debate how to handle the internal conflicts threatening the unity and image of the party’s youth organization.

The Khukuri attack is a grim reminder of the rising political violence in Nepal and highlights the urgent need for peace, dialogue, and respect among political groups.
