Tata to Launch Next-Gen Nexon on Garuda Platform

New Model Expected with Advanced Features and Upgrades
February 16, 2025

Tata Motors, known for its impressive range of hatchbacks and SUVs, is preparing to introduce a new-generation Nexon with major upgrades.

According to Indian media reports, the company will continue building the SUV on its existing X1 platform, internally named Garuda.

Tata has been making regular improvements to the Nexon. Between 2020 and 2023, several updates were introduced. Initially, in 2018, the Nexon received a 5-star adult safety rating and a 3-star child safety rating from Global NCAP. However, with continuous enhancements, the 2024 crash test awarded it a 5-star rating for both adult and child safety.

The next-generation Nexon is expected to come with premium features, including a panoramic sunroof, Level-2 ADAS, ambient lighting, and upgraded interior and exterior elements.

Currently, the Nexon is available with a 1.2L petrol engine, a CNG option, and a diesel variant. However, Tata may replace the diesel engine with newer technology in the upcoming model.

While Tata has not officially confirmed any details, reports suggest that the new Nexon could launch in late 2026 or early 2027 in India.

The updated model will compete with Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Kia Syros, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and Skoda Kushaq in the SUV segment.
