Teacher Arrested for Allegedly Harassing Female Student in Rautahat

A teacher at Shree Secondary School in Shripur, Garuda Municipality-9 has been arrested for allegedly harassing a Grade 10 girl student.

Chaos in School After Allegation

After the incident went public, students and parents gathered at the school, demanding action. Some began throwing stones, causing damage to school property and over a dozen motorcycles parked on campus. To bring the situation under control, police fired a round of tear gas.

The arrested teacher, Rabindra Prasad Sah, allegedly sent an inappropriate birthday message to the student reading:

“Happy Birthday, Meri Jaan”

Investigation and Action Underway

DSP Rajan Karki of the Garuda Area Police Office confirmed Sah’s arrest and said:

“We’ve taken him into custody. Once an official complaint is filed, we will register a case under child sexual abuse. Investigation is ongoing, and the situation is now under control.”

School Management’s Statement

Acting Chair of the School Management Committee, Rajkumar Das Tatma, stated:

“We had already received reports about Sah’s behavior and were preparing for his dismissal. During a scheduled meeting, outsiders attacked the school. We are committed to removing Sah from his position.”

He also urged police to take action against non-school individuals involved in vandalism.

According to the school, Sah was locked inside a room for his safety after being attacked and was later handed over to police. The student’s parents had already filed a written complaint against him a few days ago.
