Teacher Federation Ready for Talks with Government

The Teacher Federation has agreed to enter into discussions with the government today. According to sources from the Ministry of Education, the meeting will take place after 3 PM. The government’s side will be led by Education Minister Raghuji Pant.

As per the ministry, there will be no specific committee formed by the government for the talks. Instead, Minister Pant himself will lead the discussions. A source from the ministry confirmed that the minister would take charge of the dialogue.

Following the government’s invitation, leaders of the Teacher Federation are holding internal discussions. Nanmaya Parajuli, the co-chair of the Federation, stated that they will head to the ministry shortly. However, she emphasized that they were not calling this a formal “talk” but responding to the new minister’s invitation.

Education Minister Pant has urged teachers to approach the negotiations with flexibility. Speaking with journalists near the Parliament building, he mentioned that the government would try to meet teachers’ demands within the limitations of existing laws and the budget.

He said,

“The government is committed to resolving the current issue through talks and dialogue. I urge the teachers to come with a flexible attitude. We are ready to find solutions within the constraints of law and budget.”
